The Great Gatsby - style

I was lucky enough to see The Great Gatsby movie the night before it was released, at the "midnight" showing. I had been so excited to see it for months, ever since seeing the previews back before last Christmas.
The movie was so visually stunning, and I couldn't be happier than how it turned out. Other than giving me crazy expectations for how my love life should be, I absolutely adored this film. The costumes were absolutely gorgeous, and captured the glamour of the 1920's perfectly. Daisy's style inspired me to create this little outfit :)

my first psychic experience

I've always had really good intuition, but I never accounted it for much more than that. I always saw my ability to read people and understand things as just a common human atribute as opposed to a "gift." But recently, I've realized that there might be a little bit more to it.

I'm not an extremely religious person, but I do believe there are people, living and beyond that are watching out for all of us. We all have our spiritual guides, be them a family member, a friend, a pet, or spirit. These are the beings that want and know the best for us.

Recently, I've had some really interesting dreams. Some of them have been about small life things, like the children I babysit for, or a relationship with a friend. I thought nothing of these, as deja vu feelings have been always been a part of my life. Until the beginning of last week, my dreams were just kind of funny. Then, I had the dream. I dreamed that my horse passed away, and then hours later, I got a call that she had indeed passed the night before.

That event changed my perspective on the kind of "gift" that I may have. I stopped by a metaphysical shop today, to talk to someone that may have a little knowledge on the subject, and could give me advice on the best thing for me to do.

Upon entering the shop I was a little nervous that they would turn me away, or think I was crazy. But quickly after explaining my situation, the associate asked if I had anything amethyst in my room. It was funny to me, because I have quite a large amethyst crystal, just a few feet from my bed. She told me if I wanted the dreams to stop, I should keep the crystal far away from my room.

The shop owner told me that I'm lucky to have such dreams, and that it was likely the spirit of my horse that spoke to me in the dream to ease the pain of her passing. I am thankful for this, as it did prepare me for the news. She said that if I'd like, journaling and certain crystals like amethyst can help me better interpret these messages. I just have to be careful, and protect myself from anything that could trick me or guide me down the wrong path.

I left the shop with both a "Third Eye Chakra" and "Protection" candle, a small bag with hematite (a grounding mineral) and a tumbled amethyst.

National Gallery of Art - Washington DC

The other day, Dan and I took a little trip to the National Gallery of Art. I'd heard they were exhibiting one of my favorite paintings, “Ophelia” by John Everett Millais. When we got there, we only had a short amount of time before the musems closed, so I didn't have a chance to sneak a peek at it, but it's going to be on display for a while longer, so I'll make sure to stop back in before they send her off again.
The painting depicts a scene from Shakespeare's Hamlet, as Ophelia (Hamlet's lover) is drowning in a creek, flowers representing innocence and faithfulness surround her in her watery grave.
Here are the works of art that I DID get a chance to see:
Monet - Bridge over a Pond of Water Lillies.

Modern Neon Signage, and a gorgeous painting of the woods from the classical gallery.
(Will cite exact works at a later date)

One of the galleries with more gorgeous paintings.

Dan and I with some of the modern art, the Mobile room.

A tunnel of lights called the "Multiverse."

Visitors Guide and a souvenir postcard. :)

After touring the museums we walked around, did a little shopping, and got some food in Chinatown.

What is your favorite painting?
What museums have you been to lately?

in a better place.

I woke up from a bad dream earlier, but it quickly left my mind as the events of the day progressed.
But upon re-entering my room this evening, I started feeling strange again. I returned a phone call I'd missed from my parents, making the usual small talk with my mom.

She told me what had happened, but somehow I already knew.
My beautiful horse Flashlight passed away earlier this weekend.

I'm sitting here, trying to cope with the fact that I've lost my first childhood friend.
But I will always have memories, and that's what will keep me going.

My family has taken quite a hit already this year, but I know she's in a better place.

Rest in Peace, Flashlight. You will be missed.

How you got Here - Google Search Words.

I got really excited when I saw this linkup on my blogger dash this morning (yeah I'm late to the party, I know, sue me) because I've gotten the silliest google searches in the past.
Basically, to find your google searches in Blogger, just:
Go to your stats --> Traffic Sources
OR
In Google Analytics, just go to Traffic Sources--> Overview--> Sources--> Search--> Organic
and then scroll down and you can see some of the search terms people use to find you!

Here are my top google searches for the month:

"georgetown cupcake logo"
I first posted about Georgetown Cupcake like 2 years ago, and I've been getting steady traffic from it ever since. Which is kinda awesome. Maybe the owners themselves have scrolled across this very screen.

"tom's of maine coupon"
I wrote a bad review about Tom's of Maine, so whoever was looking for a coupon, don't buy that stuff.

"katie perry full body"
You spelled her name wrong, but yeah, she's hot. I understand why you want a head-to-toe of that. :P

"lsrijznub"
I'm sorry, what?

"free online dating"
How is my site even involved with this? At all?

"10 things every college girl needs"
This one is relevant! Yay! Check out that post here!

"jessbuckley"
I see you googling me. Hi mom!

"birchbox reviews"
Cancelled my subscription months ago, but if you're thinking about trying them, I say give it a go, but I got tired of them by the 3rd month.

What are some of your crazy google keywords?
I think "lsrijznub" might take the cake though.
