We all have bad days. You just broke up with your significant other, you didn't get that promotion at work, your new haircut is a disaster, bills are piling up, or the world just seems like it's trying to bring you down. It may sound tempting to stay in bed for a week, and just finish your instant queue on Netflix, but we all know that isn't going to be very productive. When my friend came to me earlier this week with some boy trouble, I decided I needed a quick fix for all the woes. And what works better for bad days than chocolate? This inspired me to whip up a yummy concoction that I call the "Mocha Heartbreak Shake"
To make this yummy treat, you only need 4 or 5 ingredients and a blender!
a bottle of regular or sundae chocolate syrup
your favorite coffee, I used Starbucks' Dark Espresso Roast
chocolate or coffee ice cream
milk, can substitute for soy or almond.
To start, brew 2 cups of your coffee, then refrigerate until chilled.
Then, scoop about 5 spoonfuls of your ice cream into the blender,
add 1/2 a cup of milk, 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup, and your chilled coffee.
Use the pulse setting on your blender to blend it all together.
This will make enough for both you and a friend, with enough comfort to soothe the crying jags, but give you enough energy to stay up and watch movies, get comfy in your sweatpants, and catch up on all the latest gossip and such. So drink up, hang out, and get over it.
Top with whipped cream if you'd like, and drizzle your chocolate syrup barista style!
How do you help a friend get over the blues?
Are you a big mocha fiend like me? What's your favorite kind of coffee?
